FAQ

It is important to select the correct function for your specific needs. Passage sets (non-locking) are best for hallways, living rooms, and laundries. Privacy sets feature an internal locking pin or snib, making them essential for bathrooms, toilets, and master bedrooms. Dummy handles are fixed and do not latch, designed for use on wardrobe doors, linen cupboards, or double doors.

The backset is the distance from the edge of the door to the centre of the handle spindle. The standard backset for most Australian residential doors is 60mm, and all Manovella door handles come with a 60mm latch included. However, some older homes or commercial doors may use a 70mm backset. We recommend measuring your existing latch before ordering to ensure a perfect fit.

Yes, all our passage and privacy door handles come as a complete kit, including the handles, tubular latch, strike plate, and all necessary fixings for a standard installation. Dummy handles are sold singly or in pairs and do not require a latch or strike plate.

Our door handles are crafted from solid materials to ensure durability and a premium feel. The Fairhaven and Hamilton designs are made from solid zinc alloy, while the Rosedale, Lexton, and Rochester models are made from Solid Brass. Solid brass offers superior corrosion resistance, making it the ideal choice for coastal homes or high-traffic areas.

This depends on your existing door setup. A large rose (typically 65mm+) covers a broader area, often covering the large 54mm holes found in older homes. A small rose (approx. 50-55mm) offers a sleeker, minimalist look. All Manovella door handles are designed with a small rose profile; however, if you are retrofitting over large existing holes, we offer large rose adaptor kits to ensure the hole is fully covered.

While solid brass is the most durable base material, all of our door handles are electroplated to enhance their resilience. Electroplating provides a tough, corrosion-resistant layer that stands up well to high-use areas, ensuring the handles maintain their strength and appearance over time, even in busy family homes.

While the 900-1100mm height is the official standard for accessibility, a common height in residential construction for new doors is often around 1050mm from the floor to the centre of the handle. If you are replacing existing door handles, you will need to match the height of your current holes.

For the best results, clean your door handles with a soft microfibre cloth and mild soapy water. Avoid using bleach, abrasive cleaners, or harsh chemicals, as these can scratch and dull the electroplated surface. Regular cleaning is especially important in coastal or humid environments to prevent salt buildup.
